Citizen name Stobbe

In the course of the general settling movement from west to east, became in 14. Century the Weichseldelta eingeicht and as "large Marienburger Werder" designated muzzle triangle of Weichsel and nogat, up to driving 1945 out the closer homeland of the extended family Stobbe - Tiegenhof was.

Only to the distinction of Andersen the families resemble on behalf of serving additive refers to the "capital" of the Werders, Tiegenhof, where in 18, and 19. Century of branches of the family reputation and Wolhstand attained.

Name researcher maintain, who is surname Stobbe in the down-German language range developed, when in the Middle Ages the rufnamen for better distinction surnames were added. They were not arbitrarily more erfunder, but bezorgen themselves frequently on special physical characteristics, would beru-resemble activity, environment or origin. Thus becomes the explanation named Stobbe (variations: Stubbe, Stob, Stobb, Stobe and Stobaeus) frequently on Stubben = stump referred; is it the fact that it ursruenglich as over or pointed name for a small placed underneath chap served or as origin name to a land owner was applied, its Rodeland Stubben exhibited. In the Nordfriesi dialect of the Danish holsteinischen area the word should be synonymous "stobbe" for hereditary landed property (Erbhofstede). In the Dutch language Stobbe is the same word as the high-German Stubbe. Perhaps from it the emergence of the Familiennames assumed in the Niederianden erkllaert itself.

If the acceptance applies that the origin of the family is to be looked for Stobbe within the geographical range of the today's Niderlande, then the name must already have to be proven before the 14.Jahrhundert there. Because for 1377 it is already occupied in Danzig, where a Matis Stobbe at the "Green gate" and a Heinrich Stobbe live in the bread bank lane. From tax lists it follows that 1401 a Arnold Stobbe and 1403 a Tyle Stobbe were taxable in Danzig.

The vorreformatorischen time accordingly, they will have been citizens of Roman-catholic faith. For in 16. Century in Brauns mountain, Soldau, Graudenz and king mountain as can be prove resident Stobbes does not need to apply that any longer.

In the 17.Jahrhundert the name Stobbe between Danzig and Memel far and in all social layers is common. Here separated groups of families show themselves clearly by the faith. Geographical catholic Stobbes is to be found particularly in the Ermland, while mennonitische Stobbes emerges first only to the Weichsel and particularly in the settlement area mennonitische Dutchmen eastward Danzig. Evangelist or reformed families are provable at many places of west and East Prussia.

At least with the Mennoniten it already concerns not around descendants in the country of Stobbes present, but a new influx out of the Netherlands. There the catholic priest Menno Simons (1496 to 1561) had created a religious community, which designated itself later after its Vornamem. Apostolisch written municipalities with strict breed and adult baptism form. 1550 is registered volatile Taufgesinnte from Holland in the Danziger Werder. Around 1562, when the "Doopgesinnten" is strengthened pressed in the Spanish Netherlands, further influx takes place in the Danziger who that. Mennoniten may lease the country too next only, so e.g. the property Tiegenhof. They become later hereditary tenants and owners.

Whether the ancestors of the extended family Stobbe - Tiegenhof already to this group belonged, or only is later pulled tight, is not not well-known, because in family history important links are missing.

The first Mennonit Stobbe with the rare first name Ertmann is called as a signer of a Fachtvertrages with the advice of Culm (120 km south Danzig) for 1597 to 1627. Without closer local indication again a Erdtmann and a Martin Stobbe become to 4. 8. 1692 at the time of conclusion of a lease mention. Its son Ertmann is baptized 1704 - in young man older - menonitisch in the municipality Montau (60 km south Danzig).

In the same area and in the same period the oldest well-known ancestor of the extended family Stobbe lives - Tiegenhof, the Hakenbueder (dealer) Peter Stobbe. One that he was born 1690 ago, Mennonit was white, at least temporarily in new cathedral mountain (30 km Danzig suedostwaerst) lived and 1736 in nearby convenient place the beautiful lake died. It had at least 7 children, from whom the secondaryborn son received name the earthling - the Erstgeborene was called Peter like the father.

Derkt one to the preference, intended baptismal names of the father on the son and grandchildren in addition, on the nephews and large nephews for transferring, then earthling a close en wandtschaftliche relationship between Peter Stobbe and the Montauer Ertmann Stobbe is very probable with the rarity of the unusual first name.

In the extended family Stobbe - Tiegenhof still emerges the first name earthling in four further generations, while he does not admit from other Stobbe families became.

At direct descendants - name carriers - of the Ahheren Peter Stobbe (16.. until 1736) and its wife Sara geb. Dyck, are so far 245 determined. In contrast to the statistic average are under it clearly more boy births (3:2). To add about 150 descendants - Nichtnamenstraeger - are by out marrying daughters. From the first three generations after Peter Stobbe are not well-known the vital processes of brothers and sisters. Mindstens of one of it is end 18. Year dog only with other Mennoniten emigrated to Russia. At the Asow sea numerous settlements with the place names trusted from the large Marienburger Werder developed. Here a new strong trunk Stobbe developed. A "cousin" visited the old hometown Tiegenhof in the twenties of this century and operated family research. The 2. World war, in which on Russian side the German families were separated and deportiert, interrupted all connections. Again to be tied they knew however after the war with that Stobbes, the end 19. Century from Russia to North America further-moved. Under the Canadian Mennoniten in Saskatchewan one finds today still first names such as Peter, Heinrich, Hermann, how they were accumulated in the extended family Stobbe Tigenhof gebraeuch lich. An earthling could not be determined however so far.
